Dear Residents,
The recent update on the CCTV system has brought several critical concerns to light. However, it is important to analyze the actual sequence of events and identify the reasons for the current situation.
Timeline of Events:
- October 2024:
- All CCTV cameras were serviced during the second week of October, and the entire system was functioning properly at that time.
- This effort ensured the safety and security of the community.
- Rainy Season Challenges:
- During the rainy season, a few cameras began experiencing issues. IFM promptly requested vendor support to address these problems.
- Room Lock Issue (November 2024):
- When the vendor arrived to inspect the CCTV system, some residents locked the control room, citing the code of conduct. This unnecessary action postponed the vendor’s work.
- The keys were handed over to the management on 12th November 2024.
- Delayed Action by Current OBs:
- Despite the keys being made available in mid-November, the management delayed checking the CCTV system for over a month.
- Before elections, only a few cameras were not functional, but due to this delay, many more cameras have now stopped working.
Cost of Inaction:
Even now, replacing the 5 mentioned devices would cost only around ₹25,000, which could have resolved the issue. However, instead of addressing the problem, the current management continues to engage in a blame game, further risking the community’s safety.
Questions for the Current OBs:
- Why wasn’t the vendor’s support prioritized immediately after the keys were handed over?
- Why was there a delay of over a month before action was taken, allowing more cameras to stop working?
- What steps have been taken to ensure the CCTV system is operational, considering its critical role in community safety?
