Dear Residents,

The recent visit by the Tamil Nadu Health Department has brought to light a serious concern—dengue fever cases in our community, specifically Block 12. While the health officials have shared valuable tips for residents to manage mosquito breeding inside their homes, there remains a glaring gap in the action plan for the common areas and the overall community.

The Current Situation

The Health Department’s recommendations to residents include:

  • Cleaning water trays in sinks, plant pots, and refrigerators.
  • Removing stagnant water around the house.
  • Regularly replacing water in indoor plants like money plants and bamboo pots.

While these personal measures are critical, they do not address the larger issuecommunity-level mosquito breeding zones. Areas like rainwater stagnation in open grounds, improper drainage, and neglected spots continue to pose a serious health risk.

Unanswered Questions

The management has communicated their efforts to raise these concerns with health officials, but the following questions remain:

  1. Pesticide Measures:
    • When is the management planning to conduct pesticide spraying (fogging) across the community, including open spaces, playgrounds, parking lots, and common areas?
    • Will this be a one-time activity or a regularly scheduled measure to ensure sustained prevention?
  2. Community-Level Prevention:
    • What specific steps will be taken to address water stagnation in common areas identified during the inspection?
    • Is there a concrete plan to clean open drains, treat water stagnation zones, and maintain clean common spaces?
  3. Preventing Future Spread:
    • What proactive monitoring and prevention measures will be implemented to identify and mitigate mosquito breeding zones in a timely manner?
    • Will there be regular inspections and pest control audits to ensure dengue and mosquito breeding do not escalate again?

Why It Matters

While we appreciate the advice for individual residents, it is the collective effort and clear preventive measures from the management that will protect our community as a whole. Mosquito breeding areas in shared spaces can undo the efforts taken inside our homes.

Residents Deserve Clarity

We urge the management to share a detailed action plan with timelines for pesticide spraying and preventive measures. Clear communication on how the open areas and vulnerable spots will be treated is essential to ensure the health and safety of all residents.

Until then, residents must continue to stay vigilant and demand immediate action to prevent further spread. Let us work together to ensure our community is safe and protected from the threat of dengue.

Stay Safe. Stay Healthy.
